Phyllis F.

Phyllis F. – Director

A long-time Lake Norman resident, Phyllis leads all aspects of our Huntersville school. With over 15 years in collegiate recruiting and admissions prior to joining Bach to Rock, she understands the value of intellectual and social enrichment for any age and loves to share that appreciation with others through music education. Phyllis studied business administration in her college days at South University and holds a prior certification in broadcasting. She brings deep experience in management, sales, marketing, and customer service to her role and would love to help you, your family, and friends find joy in learning music at B2R.

Erica P.

Erica P. – Marketing Specialist – Business/Community/School/Social Outreach & Events

Erica is our out-and-about resource in the Lake Norman community, finding great events at which our student bands can perform, places for our instructors to visit, and ways for area residents to connect with our unique brand of music education. Erica graduated from Northeastern University in Boston with a degree in business. She has two daughters who keep her remarkably busy. When she isn't working, Erica is most often found in the car shuttling the kids around town. She enjoys listening to all genres of music and especially likes hearing her girls practice their instruments at home.

Aidan O.

Aidan O. – Instructor – Drums, Violin, Guitar, Piano/Keys, Early Childhood Program & B2R Band

Aidan is multi-talented instructor teaching a wide variety of instruments and genres at B2R – from drums to violin, classical to rock-n-roll. Active in bands since sixth grade, Aidan plays drums in several groups and likes to write original music when he isn’t studying for his engineering degree. His favorite drummer is Aric Improta of the alternative/progressive band Night Verses, whom he has admired since an early age. Drumming isn’t Aidan’s only musical passion, however, as you’ll witness when Aidan tucks a violin under his chin or throws a guitar over his shoulder. Learning music with Aidan will fuel your passion too!

Ashenna M.

Ashenna M. – Instructor – Voice & Early Childhood Program

A voice performance graduate of North Carolina A&T State University, Ashenna is passion personified when it comes to singing and teaching music. In her collegiate days, she toured many places with her university ensemble and even performed the signature Habanera aria by lead character Carmen from Georges Bizet’s famed opera of the same name. These days, Ashenna teaches music full-time at an area elementary school and part-time seasonally with B2R, specializing in our vocal offerings, camps, and early childhood program. She’s excited to teach the next generation of stars!

Colton B.

Colton B. – Instructor – Guitar, Bass, Double Bass, Ukulele, Piano/Keys, Drums, Cello, Early Childhood Program, Trumpet, Voice & B2R Band

You would be hard-pressed to find a teacher with more enthusiasm than Colton. A resident of Shelby, NC, Colton graduated from the Montreat College Music Business program and has taught and played music for many years. His biggest reward as a teacher is seeing students find distinct pleasure on their own paths and watching them grow creatively as artists. Colton also enjoys time in the recording studio, not only playing with others but engineering and producing music too - from country to metal. His band Straightlines is a current passion. Come have a blast with Colton!

Constantine K.

Constantine K. – Instructor – Drums/Percussion, Voice, Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Piano/Keys, Recording Arts, Early Childhood Program & B2R Band

Constantine, originally from the Buckeye State, is a music therapy graduate of Cleveland State University. He has been in love with drumming since his boyhood days and has performed and taught percussion for over 12 years. A former assistant band director and drumline technician, Constantine is also proficient in piano, keyboard, and voice and can play and teach guitar, ukulele, and bass. He enjoys freestyling on bass guitar when he isn't playing drums to Led Zeppelin or Rush. Constantine has played in many bands – jazz, concert, symphonic, pep, wind-ensemble, drum corps, and honors. He is thrilled to teach students of all ages and interests at B2R!

Dylan L.

Dylan L. – Instructor – Guitar, Bass & B2R Band

A current music composition major at CPCC, Dylan started his journey in music education at age 13 when he learned Billy Idol’s White Wedding on his new electric guitar, a gift from his music-loving father. Dylan’s high-flying energy fills
the band room when students gather to rehearse, and he is a gifted communicator in the language young band students relate to especially. With fun also comes comprehensiveness with Dylan, as he pushes his students of all ages to learn and apply concepts readily across the musical spectrum. When he isn’t teaching, Dylan is often found singing lead vocals in alternative band 468 or playing guitar along to his favorite artists. Join Dylan on your own musical journey!

Ian G.

Ian G. – Instructor – Euphonium, Baritone, Bass, Flute, French Horn, Piano/Keys, Saxophone, Trombone, Trumpet, Tuba, Ukulele, Viola, Violin, Voice & Early Childhood Program

A euphonium enthusiast, Ian is also a natural teaching many other instruments - from alto saxophone to violin. He graduated from UNC–Charlotte with a BA in music and has played in chamber groups and ensembles including euphonium quartet, wind ensemble, brass quintet and marching band during his career. Ian is constantly searching for musical pieces and concepts across the instrument spectrum to add to his utility belt for teaching and practicing. Enjoying outside-the-box thinking, Ian uses a variety of approaches to find the perfect fit for any student. He looks forward to working with you!

Laura K.

Laura K. – Instructor/Board-Certified Music Therapist – Voice, Flute, Guitar, Ukulele, Piano/Keys, Recording Arts, B2R Glee Club, Early Childhood Program & B2R Band

Teaching a wide variety of instruments and classes at B2R, Laura – a 2017 Queens University graduate with a BM in Music Therapy and BA in Psychology – is highly adaptable to individual learning styles and patient with students of all ages. She enjoys helping people reach their development goals in music, whether those are aspirational, hobby-driven, therapeutic, or any combination of those and more. Outside of music, Laura enjoys camping, hiking, and nurturing her ducks, dogs, and chickens on a small farm she shares with her husband. She looks forward to creating music with you!

Mat S.

Mat S. – Instructor – Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Piano/Keys, Drums & B2R Band

A graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, Mat is an all-around asset to our B2R instructional team, teaching a variety of instruments, genres, and ages. He enjoys teaching theory as much as technique and is excellent at breaking concepts into bite-size chunks a student can digest and apply immediately. As a player, he specializes in Rock, Blues, Funk and Country and has taken his love of performing on the road in NC and TN as a member of such bands as The Rockabillys and The Zuzu Welsh Band. A great learning experience awaits you with Mat!
